Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Customers rave about the portion sizes at Caught, often remarking that even the small fish and chip options are more than enough to fill up. The crispy batter on the fish garners much praise, with many noting that it’s not overly greasy, allowing the fresh flavors to shine. The homemade 'fat' chips are definitely a highlight, often cited as some of the best in town. Additional menu items like the pea fritters and curry sauce win over those looking for a twist on the classic dish. Several visitors also appreciate the friendly staff and quick service, making each visit pleasant and efficient.

Most Disliked

A common critique revolves around the potential wait times during peak hours, particularly on Thursday evenings when the restaurant reaches capacity. Although the food is fresh and hot, some patrons mention that the wait can be a bit inconvenient, especially if you're in a hurry. A few diners have found the portion sizes deceptive at first glance, believing they are smaller than they actually are. However, the flavors usually make up for any initial doubts. There may also be limited seating available during busier times, which has led some to seek alternative dining options nearby.

Good fish and chip takeaway with good tasty food. The food was not greasy at all. I bought food from them twice in 1 week while on holiday! I phoned ahead to check that they were open and they took my order efficiently and accurately. Friendly staff. Good value. I would use them again. On-street parking near Romsey Abbey church nearby.

We needed a quick lunch during a visit to Romsey. We didn’t want to pay top notch pub or cafe prices, the sun was out on this cold, frosty January day, so we chose chips on a bench in the sun. A little bit of a wait whilst they cooked our order but we didn’t mind, it meant it was hot and fresh. We chose from the lunch menu, chips and curry sauce and topped it off with a pea fritter. On opening the paper the portion seemed quite small but for the price and it being lunchtime we weren’t bothered. The portion however was deceiving, it seemed to take ages to eat it and we were definitely full afterwards. The chips were possibly the best chips we have had from any chippy in ages. They certainly didn’t disappoint.

Haddock and standard chips less than £13. However the portion would serve two people. Crispy home made "fat" chips and crunchy fish batter. Excellent food, well done and certainly recommended.

In the heart of Romsey near the abbey, and offering excellent value. Highly recommended. Thanks PS1 I wondered if the angled 'u' in the 'caught' sign was hinting at being hooked!? PS2 Just enjoyed beautiful haddock & chips. The 'u' is straight again but the 'g' inside is looking for my next haddock!
